•SEKT• are what would be considered a “super group” in the Australian metal world. The band comprises of four seasoned veterans from the Black Metal movement, all of which have released music in this genre since 1994.

With ANDREW DOEPEL on guitar and keyboards, WARREN HATELY on Vocals, LOUIS RANDO on Drums and JAMES CAMPBELL on Bass you can expect nothing but the purest of musicianship all played with absolute conviction.

These Australians are well known for their prowess in many other established acts namely ; Impiety, Samain, Daybreak, Dybbuk, The Furor, Pagan, Shrapnel, Tryant, Bloodlust ect... However with •SEKT• they are all traveling in the same dark lane releasing a timeless offering in their debut album “Expiate In Purgatory”.

This 8 track blackened soundscape was composed, arranged, tracked and mixed in the winter of 2023 by RANDO and DOEPEL who are the main songwriters in the band.

With lyrical themes entrenched in philosophy, nature and consciousness DOEPEL delves into the shadows of his mind like a tormented artist should and with flow and balance he uses melodic structures that highlight the beauty in darkness which is perfectly displayed in his songwriting.

The furious drums of RANDO, savage vocal performance from HATELY and remorseless grinding bass of CAMPBELL prove if nothing else, that •SEKT• understand what Black Metal should be. Extreme and Powerful!

In the maelstrom there is a softness. A cathartic mediation of classical guitar and what could be seen as a nod to the Dungeon Synth world of the mid 90’s in the two keyboard pieces Transcendence and Consciousness.

For the listener this is a perfect interwoven experience, well grounded within the foundations of Black Metal.

Due to the isolation of the bands home town of Perth Western Australia, •SEKT• is a studio recording project only and at the very least we can thank them for that...

•SEKT• captures the emotion and intensity of early 90’s Black Metal and you can hear the spirit of the past that lives within the creation of Expiate In Purgatory.
